As 2025 approaches, a new year means a new positive look for most people! That sounds just like what Yamaha Motorsports also has planned for their new 2025 YZF-R9. Let's deep dive into the newest addition to the racing world together!

Let's Talk Price:
The biggest question that everyone has when looking at a new bike is usually "What will it set me back?" Which is a great place to start. Not only does your budget matter, but making sure that you are getting the best bang for your buck is also a huge deal breaker when comparing this bike to others on the market right now.
Yamaha has their R9 starting at $12,499. I say starting because many dealerships selling it will tack on destination charges, taxes, clean up/detailing fees, licensing, and potentially their own dealership revenue price so that they make some money on the sale too. Some dealerships will negotiate the additional cost above the $12,500 price- so don't be afraid to skip on the detailing fee or to make sure when financing that they work for you on the deal so that your new purchase isn't $3,000 more than you budgeted for!
In comparison to the other sport bikes out right now, when looking at the upgrades that this brand new bike comes with, the cost is actually quite reasonable given the market for 2025. We will see why when we go over the logistics below.

Color Selection and Logistics:
Yamaha is known for their slim color options when buying their products, but that isn't always a bad thing! By them keeping it simple with just three signature colors, it helps keep you from getting decision fatigue. Decision fatigue can cloud our judgement when there are too many options presented to us. So by the manufacturers deciding to give us just their; Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Raven Black, or Intensity White/Redline addition, we are able to easily pick our favorite!
I think these three colors give everyone at least one thing to love on each bike- a matte option, a unique graphics option, or a striking gloss option- something that is telling about the rider's personality.
Now for the intricate details...
Classic R-Series Style and Design: This edition comes with a new M shaped front underneath the headlights which can be either your favorite part of this bike or your least- there is no in between.
Body Style and Computer System is modeled after both R7 and R1 bikes
A Traction Control System
A Lift Control System
A Slide Control System
A Brake Control System: All of the data systems can be tweaked to each rider's preference and riding style. R9 Data is based off of their R1 computer configuration.
Brembo Brakes Calipers
Brembo Radial Master Cylinder
890CC Inline Triple Cylinder Engine: This engine can put out up to 117 Horsepower as it comes stock.
6 Speed Transmission with built in Quick Shifter
Lightest Aluminum Frame every built for a Yamaha SuperSport: Only 430 lbs. when fully filled with oils, gasoline, and fluids.
Fully Adjustable Suspension

Availability:
Don't be worried when you see that the company is only manufacturing 900 individual bikes due to all release in March 2025. Most dealerships will be getting in (or already have in) to order anywhere from two-six bikes available for a deposit now. This a sure way to save your "spot" if this is the bike you're anticipating to get come spring!
Because of the slim amount of product, buying one of these R9s will make you stand out above the rest when it comes time to ride and/or race.

I believe that this new bike is great for riders with different levels of experience and those with a range of riding options, be it on the track or the street. Best of luck researching and buying your next bike!
